Simplification is not just a new web form or some new user options to twiddle. Identity and privacy are complicated because human beings are fucking complicated.
I dropped my facebook page because I spent more time futzing with privacy settings that using the site. And Facebook is struggling because this is new territory for a company.
Monetizing the destruction of privacy is hard when you are dealing with sentient beings that value identity. And clearly this corporation and its leadership does not have any leading values to help guide it.
Or maybe it does.
