The BBC has posted an article about some US researchers that have used bacteria to manipulate and I suppose create a new synthetic DNA imposed upon the existing infrastructure of a cell. They then got the cell to run a cp command on itself. I think the idea is to create critters that generate meds for humans, which ethically seems wrong to me.
